Aboleth Group - Twiglets, anyone? - LMOP Session 6

Image
26 th June 2019, 7:30 – 11:00pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 5. End of session, day 5. We rejoin our “Heroes” outside Reidoth’s house, discussing whether to tell him that they agreed, with very little hesitation, to kill Reidoth for the dragon. As Reidoth opens the door to them, ready to welcome them with open arms back into his home, Derrick is in full flow of a sarcastic impression of errr...... of errr...... of errr...... of errr...... of errr...... Reidoth. Is it, hmm? A hurt and offended Reidoth still invites them in and fetches for them nice cups of tea, though Derrick’s tea seems a little..... weak. Despite the ridicule, Reidoth has even managed to dig out a healing potion for the party – something which the party is in dire need of and that they are starting to appreciate, having almost lost their only healer a couple of hours previously. Reidoth starts to explain that the second bronze seal that the party obtained from the dragon may have somet...

Aboleth Group - The Ditherers - LMOP Session 5

12 th June 2019, 7:30 – 10:45pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 5. End of session, day 5. We find our “Heroes” outside the town of Thundertree, where they are hoping to find a druid named Ride-On, Rudolf or Raider, or something like that. How quickly they forget important information. The druid hopefully will tell them where Cragmaw Castle is. But possibly only if they get his name correct. Derrick would also like to recover his family’s “meagre possessions” – by which the rest of the group thinks he means “treasure hoard”. At this point the party begins to earn its new title, of “The Ditherers”. They spend about half an hour discussing whether Mallorn should cast his “Find Familiar” spell, with a view to getting something to scout ahead in the town. Half an hour! They were tempted to create an octopus. In the end, after much discussion, they decided against casting it at this time. And so they pressed on, tying up their horses, which had been given the na...

Aboleth Group - Cover Your Groin! - LMOP Session 4

29 th May 2019, 7:30 – 10:30pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 3. End of session, day 5. Our “Heroes” are now level 2, and, confident and positive - having received more health and new powers, they stride off to talk to Halia, the owner of the Miner’s Exchange. Halia, a late middle aged human female who looks like she doesn’t suffer fools, seems to know who they are and had possibly even been expecting them. Derrick was pushed to the front to initiate the conversation. That has worked so well for the group so far. Unsurprisingly Derrick tries to hit on Halia. When that seems to fail, badly, the rest of the group step in to actually try to get some information. They discover that Halia is pretty tough, and she thinks that is why the Redbrands haven’t hassled her yet, but suspects that it is only a matter of time before they send the heavies round, and she would like it if their boss, someone by the name of Glasstaff, was taken out. If the party manage to do thi...

Aboleth Group – session 3 summary 16 th May 2019, 7:30 – 11:00pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 2. End of session, day 3. This session was a ‘talkie’ session. Lots of meeting new people and trying to find out what is going on. No swinging of axes at all, which means Derrick had an excuse for not hitting anything. He tried to make up for it by trying (and failing) to hit ON everyone. Quite a few notes on the session follow, as I don’t think the characters are great at remembering what was said. Note I said “characters”, not “players”. I am being kind. Our “Heroes” stand in a cave, next to a dead bugbear (Klarg), dead wolf (Ripper) and dead goblin (Screech, not that anyone stopped to ask his name). Yeemik appears, dragging a semi-conscious Sildar, and followed by 4 goblins. Yeemik tries to haul Sildar and drop him in front of the party, but isn’t quite strong enough to make it look impressive, so ends up just dropping him. Yeemik is true to his word – h...

Aboleth Group – session 2 summary 24 th April 2019, 7:30 – 11:00pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 2. End of session, day 2. The party stand at the entrance of the cave, discussing the best way to explore the cave system, which they know contains “many” goblins, some wolves and at least one bugbear, Klarg. Fed up with the discussion, the unstealthy, fully armoured human-without-any-darkvision Derrick “Leeroy Jenkins” Trebuchet decides to wander up to the stone steps and see what is in the cave off to the right. Realising that he would not be able to see anything once he gets out of daylight, Esme decides to cast light. Not on a stick, or torch, or even Derrick’s weapon, but on Derrick himself. Mallorn completed Derrick’s ensemble by casting prestidigitation and caused an odd odour to emanate from Derrick. And so it was that a smelly, glowing Derrick noisily entered the cave system, alone, to see what was around. He saw three wolves, as expected, chained t...

Aboleth Group - The Intimidated Ox - LMOP Session 1

Aboleth Group – session 1 summary 17 th April 2019, 7:30 – 11:30pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 0. End of session, day 2. Esme, Pruni, Derrick and Mallorn met each other in the back of the Neverwinter Tavern, also being introduced to Gundren Rockseeker (“Rockseekers!”), their employer for this simple escort mission, and a middle-aged, well-spoken gent who introduced himself as Sildar Hallwinter. He looked to be quite handy with the longsword that he carried. At least, he probably was in his day, before he took an arrow to the knee. Everyone has their own reasons to go to the small town of Phandalin, some 2-3 days travel away, and Gundren has offered to pay the group to escort him and his wagonload of goods to the town. After a chat, which turned more into an interrogation, with Esme, everyone retired for the night, and gathered again the following morning for breakfast. Gundren appeared, looking quite flustered, and explained that he had just heard from hi...
