Session 105 - Now They're ALL As Despondent As Jaxii!

Image
11th July 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 19. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 20 Our "Heroes" are resolute, after much debate and a nice breakfast, to head to the Shadowfell in search of Pristis. They manage to persuade Gemrik, who was keen to join them in regaining his son, to stay behind in case Pristis is returned by the Raven Queen. They head back to Hullack forest, heading for the portal, which was quite easy to find - it is well known thereabouts, though usually avoided. Stepping through they find themselves in a miserable place. Dark and foreboding, all sense of hope dispelled. Croydon. No - not that bad - but close. All colour drained from their surroundings, and the entire place covered in a mist that seems to drag out any positivity that our Heroes cling to. Even Iwee's humming cannot lift the mood as they head towards the nearby town, or city, that they see in the distance. Arriving at the gate they hear a commotion from the gatehouse. Wa...

Session 104 - The Slowest Rapid Response Unit In The Realm

Image
27th June 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 17. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 19 Our "Heroes" reconsider the wisdom of camping just outside a cave system, close to an enemy camp - an enemy who is quite likely to shortly discover they had recently exited said cave system, with a sought-after treasure. They decide to press on through the night instead to find a safer place to camp. Before resting in the early hours of the morning,  Iwee messages Yakaryn, the dragonborn who had gone in search of Pristis, and receives a worrying reply, saying that Pristis was not there, and asking for them to hurry to help. Thinking that Pristis was perhaps held captive in the enemy camp, they send Pacino back to the valley to fly around, and into, the camp to search for any sign of Pristis. Pacino II does not return. Ever. At this news, and in response to Yakaryn's desperate plea for help, our "Heroes" rest for the night in an impenetrable tent near to a cros...

Session 103 - Sometimes Having No Plan CAN Work!

Image
22nd June 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 17. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 17 Our "Heroes" are finding out more about the rumoured Guardian, or "The Watcher" as others call her, and her apparent descent into madness. Which is a little worrying. So, worried, they decide to faff about a bit more, making sure that any last remnant of surprise they may have over any residents in this spooky "temple to a Beholder" is well and truly gone. They spend time hacking off arms from things they killed recently. They throw an arm onto painted glyphs in a strange form of Hop-Scotch, to no obvious effect. They throw another arm onto a floor of thick slime and are surprised when it seems to be carried in the same direction the slime is moving - i.e. towards a hole in the floor. They throw a third decapitated arm into a pool of water. They use Pacino to investigate the hole in the floor, discover it is a likely trap, and spend quite a long time tryin...

Session 102 - Torches, Teeth and Terrible Omens

Image
6th June 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 17. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 17 Our "Heroes"—a term continued to be used loosely—ready themselves for what lies ahead. A screech echoes from the darkness beyond, courtesy of Derrick’s noble act of torch-lobbing, which lights up precisely nothing useful before being extinguished by something unseen. The only reward? Growing, scraping noises in the pitch black ahead. Comforting. Then, chaos. From above, below, and all directions that heroes generally dislike, lurch forward a pack of malformed horrors—arms like sticky tree branches and teeth like barbed wire. They descend from walls and ceilings with the grace of Karoshi dancing and with a very basic dental plan. Derrick, undeterred and still quite attached to fire as a problem-solving method, hurls another torch. This time it works—sort of—and the room is momentarily illuminated, revealing their attackers: gangly, sharp-limbed nightmares mid-bite. The group ra...

Session 101 - Derrick Enlarges A Plank

Image
1st June 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 16. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 17 Our "Heroes" are faced with a choice. Try to beat Neverember to Yegmir's Arm, or try to find the child Pristis, who may somehow be able to activate the Arm if they ever get it. They suspect Neverember is keen to do both things too, and may have already beaten them to either, or both, objectives. In the end they settle for heading for the Arm, but arrange for another dragonborn to see if they can find Pristis and his parents in the Hullack Forest. Iwee ensures she meets the person going there, so she can use Sending to communicate with them at a later date. The Nakshatra choose a female - Yakaryn - for the task. Iwee also decides to use codewords, rather than plain language, to communicate - "Sintara" would indicate that Pristis is not safe, "Nakshatra" would indicate that he is safe and well. Confused, Yakaryn sets off with two others. Our "Heroe...

Session 100 - About The Gestation Period Of Dragonborn

Image
23rd Mar 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 12. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 16 Our "Heroes" have managed to unite the clans! In returning the captured dragonborn to the Sintara clan, the group persuade them to make the first move towards reconciliation, and the Nakshatra clan respond in kind, and talks, albeit a little frosty at first, begin to happen for the first time in centuries. Jaxii receives her rewards from both sides, and from her ancestors, and spends some days levelling up. They are then summoned to a council of both the Sintara and Nakshatra elders. At this council, both clans combine their knowledge of Yegmirs Arm, and tell what Neverember and Castellan know, as a result of their previous visits to both clans. Our "Heroes" come away with a poem, a map and the knowledge of the need for Naksinta blood to activate the Arm - a problem as there has not been a Naksinta clan member alive for 500 years. At this point Jaxii, somewhat less...

Sessions 97, 98 & 99 - Can I Stroke Your Lizard?

Image
7th Mar, 25th Apr, 11 May 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 9. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 12 Our "Heroes" have signed up for some of the party games in the hope that they will win places on the menagerie tour, where they suspect they may find more information about the captured dragonborn. Iwee is hoping to use her intelligence and guile in the cryptically named Cro's Swords, Karoshi putting his animal handling skills to the test in the Beast Racing. Both seem sensible choices. Jaxii, with her skill with a sword and love of getting into close combat decides to enter the Archery - go figure - and Derrick, which excellent abilities in deception best suited for gambling, decides to duel with crossbows. Hmm. Let’s see how that goes. After some more chatting and information-gathering, and witnessing Bartok's spilling red wine on Allani's shimmering silver dress, the games begin! Off to a tough start, when Iwee, with the help from her friends, fa...

Sessions 95 and 96 - You Shall Go To The Ball!

Image
10th and 24th January 2025 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Mirtul 7. End of session: 1490DR Mirtul 9 Jaxii happily receives the offer of training in a Feat from her Ancestors and they teach her the Dragon Fear skill. The group decide to attempt to gain entrance to Countess Allani's ball to try to rescue the three captured Sintaran Dragonborn. They go about the task of trying to get enough invites to the ball to allow them all to attend. Iwee uses her over-used Sending spell to contact the Graysings, who they rescued from the Plane of Dreams not long ago, knowing they had an invite. The Graysings agreed, somewhat reluctantly, to provide their ticket (which covers them as a couple), though they were concerned that the group would potentially get the Graysings in any trouble whilst mimicking them at the ball - the party's reputation has obviously followed them. To try to get another two invites, Iwee contacts Devon, of the Little Fingers. This proves fruitful. After a l...
