Session 88 - Goblins, Bees, Mists and Motorcycles

Our "Heroes" are mid-battle, beleaguered by goblins who are more annoying than they should be. Jaxii is frustrated. Standing in the middle of the pathway, unable to hit anything but raging in fury at every arrow that hits her - there are many. Derrick and Karoshi try to clear a path through the logs whilst Jaxii draws fire, albeit unwillingly and unplanned. Iwee has managed to lose one of her swarm of bees, and helps out by healing Jaxii of some of her wounds.
Derrick and Karoshi manage to clear the logs and run towards the sniping goblins ahead. Gobby meanwhile dies, having been stung by multiple swarms of bees and being in pretty poor health to begin with. Jaxii rushes over to the goblins that have caused her so many problems so far and they try to run, allowing her a rare attack against them.
With Jaxii out of the way, the sniping goblins attack Iwee instead, and fire a number of arrows at her. Karoshi takes out the last goblin in the plate mail and follows Jaxii. Iwee uses a misty step to get away from the snipers, and also to escape the bees, who turn their attention to Derrick instead.
All of our "heroes" have run away from the sniping goblins, leaving only Sully, Karoshi's salamander, to bear the brunt of the flying goblins' attacks. With the noble mount already damaged, he falls to the three arrows that fire into him, and he disappears back to his spiritual plane.
Derrick leaps onto a rock and throws a javelin towards one of the fleeing goblins, dropping him to the ground. Not to be outdone, Jaxii throws her javelin at the other goblin and takes him down too. The goblins above seem to be out of range, but our noble "Heroes" don't want to risk it, and they run ahead, trying to ensure any goblins above would have trouble reaching them. After a minute or so of running, the group realise that the goblins are not pursuing them, and they also have managed to run away from the bee swarms.
Our party of high level adventurers, having run away from a small group of goblins, continue on their journey to Helms Hold. They arrive shortly before sundown and chat a little with Frederick, the gatesman, before heading into town to stop for the night at the inn.
A strange mist seems to envelop much of the north eastern part of town, which is where "Lord" Graysing's manor house is located, and they find out that whilst this is not usual, the proximity to the somewhat magical forest can sometimes lead to strange effects such as this. The party decide not to head to the manor house this evening, but do ask that a message is sent to Graysing to warn him they would be arriving in the morning. A serving girl, Penny, is happy to pass this message on, on her way home at the end of her shift, especially when a full gold piece is offered for the task!
Pacino is sent to keep an eye on her, which is difficult as she walks into the mist surrounding the northern part of the town. The owl sees her enter the house and reports back to the party.
As the evening progresses and the group prepare for some well-deserved rest, they find out that Penny never got home after delivering her message - her parents are worried, and so is Colwyn, the bar-keep. Before they retire, our "Heroes" send Pacino back to the manor house to watch the entrance and return if Penny returns, or upon first light.
The party spend an enjoyable evening in the bar, chatting a little with Frederick after his shift ends, and then head to bed. They all have strange dreams of weird 2-wheeled motor carriages ploughing into large hedges, and drunk men named Dominic being thrown from the carriage to the ground. Their dreams are so vivid, it is almost real life.
When they awake in the morning to a misty dawn, there is no sign of Pacino…
