Session 71 - Who Is Bob Bobskin?

5th May 2023

In-game timeline: Start of session: 1490DR Ches 10. End of session: 1490DR Ches 14

Our "Heroes" travel back to Settlestone, with Iwee hiding the precious bluecap mushrooms in a sock in a purse of holding - insocktion, as Derrick referred to it.

Silvermoon is back in her home and welcomes the travellers - especially when they explain that they have obtains a good amount of bluecap mushrooms for the ceremony.

Whilst the others wait outside to give some privacy, Iwee and Silvermoon prepare for the linking ceremony and close the blinds and place the mushrooms over the fire for their smoke to rise and permeate the room.

At this point, Iwee and Silvermoon undertake the ceremony where Iwee becomes re-bonded with Kardreth.

At the end of the ceremony, when the others enter at Iwee's call, they all find Silvermoon's lifeless body slumped to the floor. Iwee explains that Kardreth had said that her duty was fulfilled and that she could now rest in peace, and apparently she passed away happy, though Iwee was somewhat distraught at her passing.

The party decide to head to Gruumsh the herbalist and, after once again ridiculing his name, they discuss the spores they obtained from a Gas Spore (Gruumsh did explain a little about these strange plants) and found out how rare the Yellowgill mushrooms are (they have a Vitality potion recipe that requires them).

They then head to Paxton the archivist, and try to find out more information about the mine in the middle of Lurkwood - it was apparently designed by (and the last resting place of) the great Dwarven architect, Durgeddin.

After spending the day around town - where Iwee discovers that she is now able to speak a number of new languages, due to her new-found connection to Kardreth  - they rest for the night before heading out towards Lurkwood, taking Silvermoon's body with them to be buried at home. Iwee has a few conversations with the now-more accessible Kardreth who is concerned that the 'bad' people trying to find him are getting close. He doesn't know where he is, but does know that he was down the mine originally, but was moved, perhaps deeper, a few hundred years ago when someone stole him, briefly.

After a couple of days travel, they arrive in the deep wood and Iwee's memories start to return as they travel further into the forest. Iwee also finds that she is now freely able to talk to the animals in this wood, as well as having a chance to talk to plants here too. They eventually reach her original home of Shining Creek to find that some gnome families have started to return. The gnome residents were initially cautious, especially towards the demonic looking Karoshi, but they did accept the group, especially when Iwee revealed her true identity as Lily Timbers, the Golden Born. This did explain a few things - especially their confusion over who Bob Bobskin was!

They found out a little about the original rout of the gnomes, about 7 years ago, but decided to head out early the following morning (after a short, but respectful ceremony burying Silvermoon) towards the dwarven mine in the centre of the forest, that they have heard (from a friendly fox, some weeks ago now) is the new home of some gnolls. Tooled up, unexhausted and keen to try to find the Intricate Web, and Kardreth's spirit, before Castellan does, our group of "Heroes" head out further into the wood…
