Seeing him talking with a few villagers at the edge of the market, Iwee turns invisible in order to listen in on his conversation. It turns out that Helen Copperpot, daughter of Lesley Copperpot, has developed a mysterious deep red rash in the last few hours. Mayor Crawford is trying to calm Lesley down, telling her that all will be sorted out after the trial decision this evening. Iwee returns to the others and as the group talking to Mayor Crawford breaks up, they decide to confront him about his affair. They only have a few hours before they have to make their decision, so they need to work efficiently. Good luck with that. Jaxii and Derrick head to the Guard Post to interrogate the three suspects. Unfortunately they are not allowed to unbind or ungag the suspects - they fear the witch may be able to cast spells if their hands or mouth is free. Jaxii and Derrick argue over who should play the "incompetent cop" card. In the end they both end up playing it. They do this very well and end up finding out very little, though they do gather a little information about why each of the three women are accused, and they get a hint at some background 'relationships' that may be going on. They have enough experience and, somehow, money to all level up and spend their time learning their new skills and buying new equipment (and healing potions!). Derrick summons a new familiar. An owl that he christens "Owl Pacino". The DM, and the rest of the world, groans. Iwee and Derrick decide to visit a rally held by the Lord Protector candidate, Dagult Neverember. Derrick's family has history with this person, and Iwee had been having strange memories triggered when she saw pictures of his face on posters around the city. They both went in disguise and kept to the back of the crowd, but when Iwee saw his face in real life for the first time she had flashbacks of memories long-withheld - bad memories, violent memories.
