Session 26 - Ships, Sickness and Spiders

24th Oct 2020 - 19:45 - 22:40 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1489DR Marpenoth 4. End of session: 1489DR Marpenoth 7 We rejoin our 'Heroes' about to set sail on The Evening Mist, heading out to find the wreck of The Emperor of the Waves near to Whale Bone Isles . 4 days at sea took their toll. While Iwee seemed to take to the water with no problems, and spent much of her time singing, dancing and learning how to navigate at sea using the stars and a sextant, the others spent the first day throwing up and feeling rather ill. Luckily, good weather on the journey meant that Jaxii recovered quickly and she spent the rest of the time trying, and failing, to learn how to tie a variety of useful knots. Unfortunately her knots may be as likely to come loose as before. Karoshi took a little while longer to recover from the sea sickness, but recover he did, though his attempt to learn some knot tying also wasn't particularly successful, though he did name his animated rope, Lio...

Session 25 - A New Party Meets... And Goes Shopping

16th Oct 2020 - 19:45 - 23:00 In-game timeline: Start of session: 1489DR Marpenoth 1. End of session: 1489DR Marpenoth 4 A meeting of minds. Three 'Heroes' from one group - the gnomish bard, Iwee; the dragonborn barbarian, Jaxii and the tiefling paladin, Karoshi - meet up again in Neverwinter and are joined by another unsung 'Hero', the valiant human fighter, Derrick to form a new adventuring group. The old friends greet each other warmly and catch up on old times. Derrick arrives, with an overt aim to help out his cousin's (Ichabod's) friend Jaxii to find news of her mother, captured by bandits many years ago and is immediately treated with suspicion and contempt by the rest of the group. Even the usually highly critical DM starts to feel sorry for Derrick! With each member of the group armed with their own knowledge and information about the pirate group who reportedly took Jaxii's mother (called the Radiant Sisters) and an infamous pirate, Captain Bree, ...

Session 24 - "A Parting of the Ways" - LMOP

18th Sep 2020 - 19:45 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Start of session, day 29 (1489DR Eleint 22). End of session, day 34 (1489DR Eleint 27). Our "Heroes" are together in Griff's room, contemplating their next steps. Many plans were discussed, most discounted. They finally settled on a plan. They headed up towards the temple area, hoping that Lucian and his bugbears would still be around there. Treading slowly and carefully, our 'heroes' regrouped in the pool room and sent Geoff out on yet another scouting mission back into the room that previously held some bugbears. It was now empty. (Note to self - the next dungeon may well be full of bats. Bats eat spiders. Big bats eat adventurers.) Slightly nervous of what they are letting themselves in for, the party head further north, slowly and carefully, with Derrick made invisible by Mallorn's spellcasting. They spot a bugbear guard at the door, who also spots them, and they quickly retreat back to the safety of the pool...

Aboleth Group - "Let me just put this flaming skull on my head...." - Session 23 LMOP

12th Sep 2020 - 15:00 - 20:00 In-game timeline: Start of session, day 28 (1489DR Eleint 21). End of session, day 29 (1489DR Eleint 22). Starting off in the storeroom, our 'heroes' venture back out after a long rest and clamber over the bodies of dead ghouls in the ancient dining room, to progress northwards, hoping to find the old Forge. Esme pressed ahead into the next cavern to the north - only to be immediately attacked by some sort of glowing skull firing flaming rays towards her, but luckily missing. Running back out of the room she explained to the others the danger of entering the room. They listened, enraptured. And therefore didn't see the zombie dwarves 'running' towards them, which proceeded to crash into Esme and Mallorn. The tight room in the corridor prevented the others from effectively helping, until Derrick had the bright idea to leap over the battle using his newly 'acquired' boots. He did so, but unfortunately didn't time his lea...

Aboleth Group - "How long will Derrick's humility last? Oh, it's already over." - Session 22 LMOP

17 th Mar 2020, 7:45 – 11:00pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 27 (1489DR Eleint 20). End of session, day 27 (1489DR Eleint 20). After spending a short rest in the company of Gryff, the dwarven ghost, our “Heroes” debate where to head next. Knowing that the mysterious Forge of Spells is roughly north-east of their current position, their realistic choices are “north” or “east”. Our “Heroes” spend a not-inconsiderable amount of time debating the 2 options. They decide to head east, towards the glowing green fungus cavern, complete with 2 skeleton guards. Although the skeletons are not moving, the team are suspicious due to their observation of a skill and an arm of one of the skeletons returning to their ‘owner’ previously. Not, however, suspicious enough for Derrick NOT to try to limbo under the crossed spears of the skeletons. Does he prepare for the skeletons to move, readying his weapon and ask the others to train their ranged weapons on the skeletons in order ...

Aboleth Group - "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" - Session 21 LMOP

6 th Mar 2020, 8:00 – 11:30pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 26 (1489DR Eleint 19). End of session, day 27 (1489DR Eleint 20). Our “Heroes” are exhausted. Both figuratively and literally. Mallorn is dragging his feet whenever he moves, and both Mallorn and Esme are relatively useless when performing any sort of actions. Esme is also out of favour with her God, due to her inability to act when Derrick defaced the religious statue of Dumathoin. Derrick’s hand seems to be slowly turning black and Derrick has a strong suspicion that the spirit of Lady Tresendar, which partially resides in the ring that he wears on his slowly darkening finger, is equally unhappy at his actions. In an attempt to stop the rot of his fingers he immediately prostrates himself on the ground before the statue and prays to his own God, which happens to be himself. That may or may not have helped the situation, but he does also try to make amends by once again scaling the statue and replacing the e...

Aboleth Group - "Derrick's God is Derrick" - Session 20 - LMOP

20 th Feb 2020, 7:15 – 11:00pm In-game timeline: Start of session, day 26 (1489DR Eleint 19). End of session, day 26 (1489DR Eleint 19). Our “Heroes” are keen to investigate the mine and eventually they decide to actually climb into the pit and follow Derrick. There is a slight orange glow from the north-west tunnel and the group decide to head towards the light. The tunnel leads into a network of mined tunnels, some leading to seeming dead ends, others going off to the east. The dim light grows stronger to the north and the party press on, eventually discovering the source of the light – some orange, fluorescent fungus lining the walls of a tunnel. Derrick proceeds to eat some, on the basis that Esme *thinks* that it *might not* be deadly. Derrick wouldn’t last very long in the wild. Luckily, at least for Derrick, the fungus isn’t poisonous, though it does cause everything that comes into contact with it to glow. So Derrick ended up with glowing hands and a glowing mo...
